Myself, my sons, and my daughter suffered from drug and alcohol addiction. I lost everything – our home, our cars, my marriage, and my family. I found myself alone with my addiction to fentanyl, meth, and opioids – by losing everything, I desperately knew I needed help.
My life, my freedom, and my mental state of mind was in jeopardy. It took several years and attempts to get clean, being locked up, getting in trouble, and trying to quit on my own. It took three times going to rehab to finally get it and understand why I loved the drugs and the lifestyle. It takes a lot of love and support from other addicts and alcoholics, respect and patience, and love of self, to stay in recovery.
My sons, daughter, and I are still early in our recovery – But we have something different that we didn’t have before and that is the blessing of having people in our lives who we can trust and believe in that have helped us to regain and build ourselves up again.
Thank you HEART of Taos and Taos Pueblo Recovery Works. Thank you to all the brothers and sisters who are in recovery, who are addicts and alcoholics, such as myself. Much love, respect, and appreciation. Thank you all. I couldn’t have done it without you.
